A mobile app has previously been developed for OfficeMate. It makes buying office supplies much easier through photo scanning technology. Dispatching and tracking the orders also become quicker and more efficient with the help of GPS. Our challenge is to make OfficeMate mobile app more relevant to the people.
Thai people love humor, so a parody of the innovation cliché often seen in product videos is how this application is presented. A web film is produced to tell the story of a fictional character, Tony Start, who is engineering director at a national office supplies bureau. An eccentric inventor, he merges functions of all office supplies in one mobile phone, resulting in a groundbreaking phone that can staple, make coffee or even serve as a bidet shower all in one. However, his invention is so futuristic and no one wants to use it. OfficeMate mobile app is then introduced as a simpler solution for office supplies. This ad is a humorous, graspable twist on complexity of modern technology.
The number of application downloads is 6 times higher after the campaign, making it the top ten most downloaded application in Thailand.
