Critical object : Pollution box

Problem of Capitalism is an economic system based on free markets. Many worldwide electronic companies decide to build the factory in some countries where the labor rate is low in order to reduce costs and gain higher profit especially in China.

We start to research on the pollution topics and found that approximately 70% of the manufacturing companies break the regulations.
They pumped out more emissions than the allowable level or some may also operate without having a proper license or invest sufficient pollution control equipment. More than 13,000 companies had failed to meet environmental standards.

After assembled the electronic parts together, the finished products are shipped out to Worldwide but left the emission of harmful chemicals produced by those factories into the atmosphere to those countries. From the past few years, levels of smog have increased tremendously throughout China resulting in the deterioration of air quality, raising worldwide concerns especially on PM2.5 (particles pollution less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter) which can penetrate deeply into the lung, irritate and corrode the alveolar wall, and consequently impair lung function. PM is a mixture of solids and liquid droplets floating in the air. Some particles are released directly from a specific source, while others form in complicated chemical reactions in the atmosphere. Particles less than or equal to 10 micrometers in diameter are so small that they can get into the lungs, potentially causing serious health problems. Ten micrometers is less than the width of a single human hair. Why Are PM2.5 Dangerous. Since they are so small and light, fine particles tend to stay longer in the air than heavier particles. ... Fine particles are also known to trigger or worsen chronic disease such as asthma, heart attack, bronchitis and other respiratory problems. According to the research, air pollution killed more than estimated 1.1 million people per year.

It is really hard to raise awareness of air pollution because the smog flows in the air or in our atmosphere as an invisible as it is very small.
For the reason, my partner and I have an idea about making an empty cleared box that filled with smoke ( i.e. smoke represented air pollution ) with an intention to raise awareness every time they buy electronic equipment that it caused pollution to the people on the third world countries who are now suffering with the pollution.

The mainboards, the microchips are the key products exported from China or low labor countries but these products may not be attractive enough to draw attention from people. Therefore, my partner and I tried to think through if there is any transparent glass box which could allow the audiences to see the smoke inside it. Finally, we had decided to use Go Pro camara as a sample product because GoPro camera is well known of its package with a transparent plastic box. We plan to redesigned the box with logo on the side bar with water proof and wifi icon to be toxic and gas mask icon to emphasize the message of protesting against any company or manufacture which violate the pollution rules.

It is important to build awareness of people in order to help China or any other countries to combat the current air pollution problems because air pollution is one of the most serious problems in the world. Air pollution can affect your health and the environment so there are actions every one of us can take to reduce air pollution and keep the air cleaner, and precautionary measures we can take to protect our health.

** Smog is a kind of air pollution, originally named for the mixture of smoke and fog in the air. Classic smog results from large amounts of coal burning in an area and is caused by a mixture of smoke and sulfur dioxide.
